Top National Hunt owners to watch out for include John P McManus, Gigginstown House Stud, Hurl ‘n Ball Syndicate, John J Brennan, and I Madden.
Previous Irish Grand National winners who know the Fairyhouse course and have proved their stuff will feature especially high in Irish Grand National odds. Eyes will be on the 2008 winner Hear the Echo, 2007 winner Butler’s Cabin, and on previous winners like Point Barrow (2006) and Numbersixvalverde (2005).
If Numbersixvervalde runs, he may be a particular Irish Grand National favourite. With jockey Ruby Walsh and trainer Martin Brassil, Numbersixvervalde won the 2006 Aintree Grand National steeplechase. As well as taking the victory in the 2005 Irish Grand National, he finished in sixth place in the 2007 Irish Grand National.
