Spencer and Sanders level
Spencer and Sanders level
Seb Sanders has drawn level with his rival Jamie Spencer in the race to become the next champion jockey.
The duo are now tied on 185 wins after Spencer landed a double victory in the evening races at Kempston yesterday (November 7th).
And Sanders could surge ahead of his rival if he wins an appeal from a race at Newmarket, where his charge was disqualified allowing second placed Spencer to claim the victory.
Despite Spencer still being the slight favourite to claim the title, Sanders is desperate to win the crown rejecting his rival’s claim that there should be a special price for the leading rider.
Sanders said: "That’s entirely up to him. I think being champion jockey’s a great honour and hopefully one day I’ll be one.
"At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if it was a fiver or five grand, I’d still be trying me hardest."
